Comply Confidently with I-9 and Immigration Compliance Changes
If you think you’re in compliance with immigration policies, it’s time to check again. President Trump is cracking down on illegal immigration and implementing a program of mass deportation. The implications continue to rock companies across the U.S., and failing to comply can be costly.
These new regulations include criminal penalties for employers who knowingly employ individuals, including immigrants, who are not lawfully authorized to work in the United States. The president has also instructed the Department of Homeland Security to conduct Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids on workplaces. In addition, DHS officials are expected to ramp up inspections of employer files containing the Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, that all employees must complete.
That all amounts to a host of challenges for employers. Questions abound, and employers need answers to this ever-changing situation.
On April 16, join immigration lawyers Chris Thomas and Greg Goldberg as they get you up to speed on this rapidly changing topic. This online training course is the ideal compliance training for anyone who handles I-9 forms and immigration issues.
Attend this two-hour workshop and learn how to:
- Conduct internal audits of your I-9 processes and documentation.
- Remediate any defects in processes or documentation.
- Take action to get in compliance before the immigration enforcement storm arrives at your door.
Agenda:
- I-9 modernization updates. Review recent changes to I-9 processes, including remote verification and the increased scrutiny of electronic I-9 systems provided by outside vendors.
- Correcting issues. Identify and address missing or incomplete Forms I-9 and other common issues.
- New administration, new priorities. Track changes coming out of the Trump admin and how to comply.
- Increased enforcement. Learn tactics to navigate the new ICE taskforces and Homeland Security’s I-9 audit quotas leading to dramatic increases in enforcement activity.
- Employer liability and joint employment. Explore government priorities around criminal prosecution of employers and a continued emphasis on joint employment with staffing agencies and contractors.
- Ask questions. In a recent webinar, nearly a dozen questions were asked of the presenters. Bring your unique questions and get all of them answered.
We know immigration regulations are tricky and the stakes for employers are high, so we’re ensuring there’s extra time to ask and answer your questions at the end of the event. Get answers to your trickiest questions, because leaving compliance up to chance is too costly.
