When Employees Speak Out:
Managing the Rise in Worker Activism
Managing the Rise in Worker Activism
Don’t wait for activism to become a problem. Get ahead of the movement to avoid HR and legal troubles.
This is not your grandfather’s workforce. Employees are no longer shy about speaking up and demanding that their employers act as good corporate citizens. From racial justice to the environment to pay equity, employees want to know that companies care about what they care about and are working toward “righting the wrongs” in today’s culture. These days, that may even involve activism around COVID-related rules.
But mishandling this new wave of employee activism can gain your company notoriety in the worst sense of the word. Unwanted headlines can destroy your reputation. And employees’ activist tactics—from social media campaigns to walk-outs—could be deemed “protected” legal activity, even in nonunion workplaces. That means the wrong move can get you sued.
This important new workshop will provide strategies to embrace opportunities for activism that support your business objectives and culture. You’ll also learn how to avoid legal trouble and make sure you stay on the right side of the National Labor Relations Act when addressing unwanted activism. Your trainers will be one of America’s foremost experts on management/employee relations, plus a former VP of HR for MGM who has successfully managed these types of issues.
Agenda for When Employees Speak Out:
- What employee activism is, and how it affects companies of all sizes
- What’s fueling the movement and where it’s headed
- How the labor shortage has given employees more power and leverage than ever before

- How to avoid the common traps that HR and leaders fall into with employee activism

During this 75-minute training, you’ll learn how to:
- Understand the trend.
From pay equity to climate change (and even vaccine mandates), employees are pushing their employers to take a stand.
- Know how to respond.
Employees are demanding to work for good corporate citizens. When (& how) should you align with these causes?
