Stay in compliance with complicated new e-filing rules to avoid huge IRS tax penalties.

This January, file with confidence and avoid penalties.

The IRS has rolled out extensive new e-filing requirements that change the way you count 1099s to determine whether you’re a mandatory e-filer. These requirements drop the mandatory e-filing threshold substantially, guaranteeing even the smallest employers will be snagged. Larger employers aren’t off the hook, either. Also, employers face intense new scrutiny of their 1099s from the IRS — and forms filed in the wrong medium (even correct forms!) can trigger millions of dollars in tax penalties.

There is also a new, simplified e-filing platform from the IRS. IRIS debuted for filing 2022 1099s, but it’s still a work in progress. The agency says IRIS is just like W-2 Online (it isn’t), but some features can make your tasks easier to complete.

The best defense for your payroll department is to learn about all these changes now through our timely webinar, led by payroll expert Alice Gilman, Esq., editor of Payroll Legal Alert.
