Agenda for Learning the Law:

  • Employment law 101. We’ll review the top 10 important laws you must know.
  • Hiring and firing. The two most legally risky areas for any manager. We will walk through what not to do from the literal start to finish of people management.
  • Performance reviews and communications. From casual conversations to performance review documentation, what you do and say about an employee can land you in hot water.
  • Personal liability. Yes, managers can be sued personally. We’ll explore where the risks are highest and steps you can take to avoid the worst-case scenario of a subpoena.
  • Managing difficult situations. From accommodation requests to long-term leave, how managers should react to the all-too-real curveballs that get thrown their way.
  • Handling invisible workers. With so much telework happening, it’s time to get managers up to date on supervising their invisible workers – especially those who aren’t living up to expectations.
